About Us

Wingstar Doughtmaster Stud was founded in 2003 with the aim of producing commercially sound seedstock that are suited to breeding and fattening in a grass fed environment.

Located near Augathella in South Western QLD the stud is owned and operated by Scott and Tracy Sewell and their children Alice and Harry.

The stud is run on "Gundare", 36,000 acres of mixed downs and cleared Brigalow, and Yapunyah soils.

The herd are Santa Droughtmaster crossed females along with all progeny not selected for breeding fattened on grass and sold direct to meatworks.

When “Coreena Park’ was sold the stud was moved to “Gundare” in 2006.

Ken purchased foundation females from Glenlands, Calioran, Lormist, Truvalle and Haigslea Studs.

 

History

The stud was founded by Ken and Pauline Sewell in 2003 on ‘Coreena Park’ Baralaba.

Before purchasing ‘Coreena Park’, Ken and Pauline and Scott Tracy deleted operated “Star Downs” at Alpha.

The 92,000 acre property ran a commercial herd of 1,500 BrahamDroughtmaster cross females.

Our genetics have the ability to fatten off grass efficiently reaching the Jap ox export Milk – 4 tooth market at around 320 - 380 kg dressed. The daughters remaining make excellent mothers and carry our selected traits for fertility.

 

Land Management

We purchased “Gundare” in 1999 as a sheep property, a mix of open Mitchell Grass downs and timbered country

commercial animals as well as over 2,000 acres of Silk Sorghum.
